Rustic Home Decor
25 Unique, Rustic Home Decor Items
Let’s be real… Pinterest has to be one of the greatest inventions. I could spend hours getting lost in the various creative ideas people have especially when it comes to home decor. Ever since being a child, I enjoyed having a creative side although my taste probably wasn’t as great.(Hey! It was probably better than my sister’s taste though because she chose a bright orange color for her childhood bedroom!!)
Now, that I’m adult and I’m over the stage of putting Backstreet Boys posters on the walls, I get the appreciate interior decorating and design. Although I currently own a home, I do not have it decorated the way I would want it. However, I find that right now it’d be a waste of money and time to invest in making changes and buying news items if I don’t plan to live here for the long term. So, when I look at designs, I am planning for the future of what I would like my house to look like.
Everyone has different styles. Contemporary/modern seems to be a big fad lately especially with all the high tech gadgets that can come with a home now. Then there is the old-fashioned Elizabethan style that seems quite out-dated and is my least favorite. Then there’s the beautiful, classic rustic style. I know this has gotten majorly popular in the past few years. It seems like everyone has Mason Jars, burlap, and chalkboards in their houses now, but I LOVE IT!
It’s almost like a mix between casual and fancy. A home should feel comfortable to me and a rustic style home provides that unlike modern or Elizabethan.
I put together a list of 25 items that include furniture/flooring, wall art, decorative pieces, and lighting that would give your home the rustic vibe. The links will actually take you to the item so if you’re interested you can save it for later or purchase!
Happy Decorating!!

Furniture/Flooring
Shaw Floors Belvoir
The flooring can be a crucial part of making a home look rustic. Having bright flooring will definitely take away from the rustic feel. So you want to go somewhere in the middle and for it to have a slightly faded, rugged look. There are plenty of different flooring options out there, but this looked fairly rustic to me.
State Throw Pillow
Representing your state seems to be another big trend lately. Some people see throw pillows as purposeless, but it adds character. This simple pillow could easily match with most furniture/bedding choices too.
Three Posts Burke Sofa
A rustic style couch to me may have the burlap look to the fabric along with the studs in the fabric. I chose a beige colored sofa because with the darker floors it will look better.
Gage Jute Rug
I am not big on rugs or carpet specifically if they have patterns. The main reason is because I have pets, so cleaning rugs or carpets tends to be more of a challenge. However, a simple area rug in a living room can add the right amount of detail. I went with a natural beige color hand woven rug.
Calistoga Coffee Table
I love how simple, yet functional this coffee table is for a living room.
Loon Peak Bluestone 54″ TV Stand
This cute TV stand has the sliding barn door look and comes in a variety of colors.
Birch Lane Stourton Console Table
This could be a table in a hallway near the foyer or front door area. It’s a great way to display photographs, figurines, flowers, etc.
Wayfair Charlotte Reclaimed Wood Dining Table
Reclaimed wood is a huge hit on Pinterest! You can also make a table of your own with distressed wood just from buying an old table in a garage sale.
Similar to the style of the couch, I like the fabric and metal studs for the more rustic look.
Wall Art
String Box Sign Art
Yes, you can make these and in fact I have. For those of you that are maybe less creatively inclined, buying a pre-made one is the way to go.
Stonebriar Collection Roman Numeral Wooden Wall Clock
I sometimes think I’m the only person (at least young person) that still wears an analog watch instead of a digital one. So, naturally I just love wall clocks in the same way!
Andover Mills ‘New Day’ Textual Art on Wood
These message signs appear to be a big hit lately too. I see them in almost every store that has any bit of home decor. These signs are also fairly easy to make on your own if you’re up to a DIY project!
Metal Spoon & Fork Wall Art
I’ve always been fascinated with the obnoxiously large silverware. It’s so simple, but looks great in a rustic style kitchen/dining area.
Wayfair Pires Farmhouse Wall Mirror
Mirrors are a great way to make a room look larger than reality. The wooded frame is gives a nice rustic touch for any room.
Decorative Pieces
Candle Lantern
How can you not love a simple candle?
Woven Metal Brookyn Hurricane Candleholder
Candles, especially with the woven decor, definitely add a rustic touch. They could easily be a centerpiece on a table.
Paulownia Wood Vase
I just thought these were so unique as I’m so used to seeing glass vases. You could put some dried flowers or just leave them empty and it would look great!
Godinger 3-Tier Rustic Wood & Iron Server
This would be great for parties where you are serving small finger foods or desserts.
Willow 72-Inch Table Runner in Natural
Of course you’ve got to have that burlap look. A table runner is a quick way to dress up a dining room.
Uttermost Thoro Bowl
I love the woodsy look this gives off. You could keep it empty or add potpourri, rocks/pebbles, or other items.
Pure Garden 14-in. Artificial Boxwood Wreath
Who says wreaths are only for Christmas time?
Lighting
Brown Gaston Table Lamp
The deer, forrest look is also in especially with the rustic theme.
Catalina 3-Light Metal Orb Chandelier
I absolutely despise regular chandeliers because I do not like the overly fancy look, but I am perfectly content with this style!
Barrett Glass Globe Chandelier
Here’s another beautiful rustic chandelier.
Wayfair Distressed Glass and Wood Lantern
Here we go with the distressed wood again!
Time to go make your Pinterest visions come true, right?! 😉
